Preschool Open House

Last night we had the opportunity to visit the preschool the girls will attend in the fall. Since the preschool is at the church we attend it wasn't necessarily a scary or daunting experience for any of us. In fact they use the same classroom the girls use for church school so it was a bit tricky explaining why we were actually there.

The building was recently remodeled and additions were made to the preschool area to make the atmosphere absolutely wonderful. The girls eagerly and easily followed a teacher as she showed them around and explained some of the things they will get to do in the fall. I'm really excited for the program and I know the girls are absolutely ready for it.

I was never completely thrilled with the infant and even toddler stage, so this new endeavor that we are all embarking on is really exciting for me. If I could make those stages shorter and the preschool stage longer, I would. I can't wait to talk to them about what they are experiencing and to watch them grow and learn.

(And I'm secretly looking forward to the five hours a week I get to myself.)

  1. I have always said I would start the girls in a preschool program when they were three. I'm 90% of the way there, in thinking about the fall...I'm really trying to make my mind up in the next week.

    I found a program that I really like. It's Tuesday / Thursday, from 9:00 - 12:00 = 6 hours a week.

I know the girls will love the interaction (once they get over the initial SHOCK from being apart from me!). And a friend recently mentioned what you noted, how stimulating it will be for all of us to talk to them about what they're doing in school.

Still, there's part of me that thinks I should keep them home "just one more year", and then start them in 4-year old preschool.

Any words of wisdom for me??? :)
