swimming

Today could not be a more beautiful day. These are the days that we live for. 75 degrees, blue sky, gorgeous sun, low humidity. Because the day was so beautiful, everything we did today seemed so easy and fun. I wish all days could be like this!

Delight:  Little Gym was really fun this morning. The girls still don't like the circle time at the beginning; I guess they aren't interested in walking/running/galloping in circles while singing songs. I think they don't like it because the teacher plays a recording of a man singing and talking. They are probably confused because they can't "see" who is talking to them! Hopefully they can come to accept circle time will be part of the activity every day.

Today we learned how to do the forward roll. Both girls LOVED it. Little Bird especially wanted to do it over and over. She has great form too. The teacher said that she was so impressed that both of them instinctively put their hands out and tucked their chins as we flipped them over. Could they be great gymnasts some day?!? HA!!!

Delight: Since our first plan to go swimming last week was hindered by ran, we attempted a second run at it. The girls were excited to go and see "K" and "Errnnn" and puppy too. They didn't love swimming today, but I guess they gave it a good attempt. Even though they love to play with "K" and "Errnnn" they only wanted me to take them in the pool. We did have a good time wiggling our piggies and splashing the water for a while, but Little Pie wasn't totally into it after she took a face plant into the water. oops. We will keep attempting their "swimming lessons" with "K" and "Errnnn" so that they can be little fishies someday!

Little Pie warming up after her swim "experience".

Little Bird all cozy wozy. (She likes to say cozy wozy).

The girls lounging and watching Lobo sleep. They were waiting for him to get up and run around so they could yell "puppy!".

Heading home after a fun afternoon!

busiest weekend of the summer!

Delight:  Well, we all survived the busiest weekend of the summer! I dropped the girls off at Nana and Papa's on Friday morning. They are always excited to go there! The say "Nana?" "Papa?" "Uncle?" the whole drive there. After I dropped them off and it was time for me to leave I told them I was going bye bye and they barely had time to say bye to me. I guess that's a good thing! We had a great time at our friend's wedding that night and managed to stay safe from the flash flooding that occurred downtown during the wedding. It was so nice to get out and spend time with friends.

Daddy with the groom and another friend.

So happy to have a night out!

With the bride and groom outside on the terrace after the torrential downpours.

On Saturday I headed to a baby shower while Daddy went to Nana and Papa's to play with the girls. After the shower I headed there too and we all hunkered down for ANOTHER night of severe storms. We were hoping and hoping that we didn't have to go down to the basement because the girls were sound asleep (we are thankful they still don't wake up during thunderstorms). We knew that if we had to get them up to take them down to the basement, they never would go back to sleep! Fortunately we all stayed safe.

Delight:  On Sunday Daddy got to play golf with Papa. In the afternoon we headed to a going away party for the Beestings. The girls had a great time playing in the kiddie pool with all the other little kids. It was really fun to see everyone and their little ones, but when it was time to leave, all the mommies and daddies realized that we hardly got to talk because we were all so busy chasing after all the kids! Oh well, sooner or later we'll all be able to relax with a beer while the kids run around on their own.

The host of the party, Mr. S., waiting for me to watch him jump in the pool. Later, while he was in the pool literally hopping around, he said to me "hop on in!". Love him!

The girls checking out the water. At first Little Bird wanted nothing to do with the pool but after I told her it was a frog pool she couldn't get in it fast enough!!!

Little Pie loved the sprayer.

Mr. S. was in charge of turning the sprayer on and off and sometimes he would turn it on a little too strong! Some of the kids got a surprise!

I can't remember if Mr. S. is pretending to "achoo" or if he was pretending to be a crocodile in this photo. Either way, he was hysterical!

Little Bird figured out how to sit in the big girl swing. She actually sat in it forever and never fell out. We slowly pushed her and she had a blast.

Little Pie had also tried the big girl swing but soon realized she didn't know how to do it and preferred the little one instead.

All the girls at the party loved to copy Mr. S. He was the only boy there for a while!

Mr. S. meets Mr. L. the only two boys at the party.

Little Pie got a surprise splash in the face and then a surprise bump in the head with a swing, so she took a break and relaxed for awhile.

Little Bird is waiting patiently for mommy to bring more crackers. We have found that it is tough to bring these two girls to BBQs because they don't like to eat anything but crackers.
Dud:  Little Bird was a TERRIBLE sleeper last night. We had a great time at the BBQ but we didn't get home until after 8 o'clock and the girls didn't fall asleep until after 9. That's 2 hours after their usual bedtime. Little Bird woke up around 12:30 and whimpered/whined/squealed/cried off and on until 3!! I, of course, was awake the whole time. I tried giving her milk and rubbing her tummy, but she couldn't fall asleep. She was up at 8 this morning happy as a clam!
Delight:  This morning we met BFF at the new Town Green and listened to some music at the band shell. The girls had a great time! The music was 3 percussionists and the girls paid attention (sometime) and clapped along and when the songs were over. We also had a picnic lunch and walked around the water. We'll definitely be doing this another Monday morning.

fun in the sun! (and one rain out)

Wow, we have been busy! It's only going to get busier with this weekend being the busiest of our summer weekends. Little Bird has a cough that I am REALLY hoping won't turn into anything else. We've got to keep on with our fun!

Delight:  The girls and I had a pool party in the back yard on Tuesday afternoon. The girls weren't really interested in being in the pool for too long. They are both still very into the swings. We basically spend the whole afternoon taking turns in the swing.

What's this thing again?

Wow cool! Can we get in?!?

 This is a little chilly.

Um, you know I don't like the water too much.

Wading in the pool!

Little Pie is so determined to get the straps buckled on her own. She gets VERY frustrated and won't accept any help from me. I guess I shouldn't be too upset that she wants to do things on her own because she did figure it out today! She sat herself in the swing and buckled the straps on her own!

The old water table! Time to water the flowers!

Delight/Dud:  We planned to go swimming with cousin "K" and Lobo on Wednesday afternoon but of course it RAINED (dud!)! We rescheduled for next Tuesday so stay tuned for the twins experience in a big pool!  We did however go and play with "K", "Ernnnnn" and Lobo. The girls had a blast!!

Being silly with Lobo.

Are you turning Elmo on?

The girls climbed all over the cushions. They thought it was so fun. It was like they were at the Little Gym!

Every other minute they would point at Lobo and say "puppy! puppy! puppy!".
Chillaxing!

Delight: This morning we a had pool party with our twin friends Ms. M and Mr. H. I think all the kids had a lot of fun. It was still cool so we didn't go in the pool but everyone played with the water table and in the sandbox. Little Bird and Little Pie wanted to swing for most of the morning; and of course Little Pie was obsessed with those buckles!

Delight:  Little Bird has been hilarious with her talking lately. She is really into saying words that start with "F" but unfortunately some of them come out sounding like the f word. Uh oh! She also likes to point at things and say who they belong too. She also started calling Little Pie "pie"! It is so cute!! Also, lately when she has been drinking out of her Disney Princess cup, she points at Belle and says mommy. Too hilarious and cute!!

father's day and the zoo!

Yesterday was Father's Day and the girls spent the day with their daddy, uncle, papa, great grandpa and great uncle. All are terrific men and we are blessed to have them in our lives!

Delight:  The girls got to spend a lot of time outside yesterday since it turned out to be a gorgeous day. Of course they had to swing! Daddy and Papa took turns pushing the girls in their favorite pastime. It did get to be quite a lot of swinging and each of the girls had a tough time waiting their turn (it was IMPOSSIBLE to distract them with some other fun activity while they waited their turn). The whining was getting to be too much so I said all done swinging (after the girls had an equal amount of turns on the swing of course). They were SO GOOD and gave up the swing with no problem! I was shocked, relieved and very proud!

Daddy pushing Little Pie in the ever popular swing while cousin "K" tries to distract Little Bird from the fact she is not in the swing.

Daddy and his Little Bird

Little Pie is getting better at getting out of the swing to give Little Bird a turn, but she is having a hard time waiting patiently for her next turn.

Trying to play catch with Lobo but that swing was just too tempting.

Delight:  We went to Como Zoo today with BFF and some other moms and kids in the neighborhood. We got to see the new polar bear exhibit as well as all the other classic exhibits. All three girls did a great job, but I think they would have preferred to run around the entire place on their own instead of having to get in and out of their strollers.

The three girls outside the polar bear exhibit. Little Bird wants to get out!

BFF shows everyone the giraffe.

Looking at the ostrich

Little Bird pushed the stroller around for a while (with Little Pie in it!) so she needed to take a water break!

When Little Pie got out of the stroller she didn't really care too much about the animals; she just wanted to see if she could figure out these buckles!

The three girls waiting for the Sparky show to start.

After we got through almost every exhibit we had a picnic lunch before heading home.
