Welcome to OUR LIFE WITH THE MG TWINS! Here is the story of a family of four; a busy dad, an equally busy mom, and two silly little twin girls. Our life currently revolves around playing, reading books, playing again, reading more books, singing songs, reading books (again), dancing our bums off and generally having the time of our lives!

a memory
Now that the girls are feeling better (thankfully!), we are back to our usual play play play and play! Little Bird is really starting to get into wrapping blankets around herself and acting all cuddly. It's adorable! The other day she put a particular blanket around herself and I immediately saw her one month old face; we had wrapped her in this same blanket on a cold December day in 2008. It was so amazing, because to me, she looked exactly the same even though I notice every day how she looks older and older. I dug up the picture to compare. Oh the memories!

poor little pie
Little Pie has been sick the last two days. We thought it was another ear infection, but it turns out it's not. She had a very runny nose yesterday and had a lot of trouble sleeping both Saturday and Sunday nights. During one of her wake ups last night, we heard the wheezing so we got the nebulizer out. By 4 AM she was asleep and slept until 10:30AM! I couldn't believe it; but the rest of the day was really tough. She was really uncomfortable and the wheezing was bad despite the neb treatments. She didn't want to eat lunch. She tried to take a good nap, but Little Bird woke her up too soon and she really struggled the rest of the afternoon. Of course all the drainage made her vomit (all over me!), but after that she seemed to feel better. She sat in the recliner and watched lots of Elmo. She was excited to eat pears for supper and even more excited to go to bed. Hopefully we have a good night tonight!
Little Bird tried really hard to play by herself today, but she found it hard not to whine and cry and want to sit on me when I was holding/comforting Little Pie. I felt bad that I couldn't play much with her and of course she didn't know what was going on! Unfortunately before bed tonight, her nose was stuffy so I'm expecting her to be sick tomorrow with wheezing and cold symptoms. She had a tough time falling asleep tonight because it was hard for her to suck on her Nuk when her nose was stuffed up. I had to rub her belly until she fell asleep. I really hope has a good night tonight. The whole family is really tired!

the park
Wow, do we love the park! We visit it almost every day. The girls love to hop in the wagon and head on down to the park. When we turn the corner and the sand and slide and swings are in sight, both girls are very excited! Both girls are getting more comfortable with being there and are not afraid to head off to their favorite parts. Little Pie is addicted to the slide and wants to go up and down several times. She usually is very upset when it's time to be done. Little Bird is in love with the swing and could sit in there all day. Unfortunately it is hard for me to do both at the same time, so someone is usually upset. Little Pie tries to play in the sand with her bucket and shovels while I push Little Bird in the swing, but the slide is just too tempting. Sometimes she can't wait for me to come over and help her, so she tries to go up herself. I'm looking forward to when they can go down the slide themselves or do more things by themselves so I don't have to feel so guilty about leaving one out. It's a lot more fun to go to the park when daddy's around!

kisses for sister
The twins are starting to really get into giving each other kisses. They have always given each other a kiss before bedtime (usually Little Pie says "ohhhhh" after each kiss); but now they really like to go up to each other and plant one on each other's face. I was trying to get a video of the girls dancing again (it is so hysterical!!), but as soon as the camera came out, Little Pie headed towards it. She likes to look at the display instead of waiting for a picture or video to be taken. I kept whispering to her to go back and dance with Little Bird, but I think she thought I said give her a kiss. It was so sweet!
It would be nice if they ALWAYS wanted to give each other kisses, but of course there are times for hugs and time for fighting! It's getting harder and harder to break up these fights! Some toys have been delegated to the basement because they cause too much bickering. Oh well, at least we end each day with a kiss!

thank goodness for warm weather
The cars are a great hit now that they have been moved from the basement to the garage. Now if only the girls could figure out how to go forward instead of backwards! My back is getting a little tired from bending over and pushing them around. One of these days they'll be taking off down the driveway so we need to beware!
The girls were so exhausted from their outdoor play yesterday that they both zoned out watching Elmo while mom made dinner. It was nice for me though...I didn't have two silly girls at my feet while trying to move around the kitchen. Thank goodness for Elmo DVDs!

Belated Easter entry
The girls got up bright and early Easter morning to find their Easter baskets filled with Elmo! Little Bird was so surprised and happy to find a real Elmo in her presence. She carried him around and wouldn't even let him go to eat breakfast. She kept looking at him and saying "Elbo, Elbo!" like she couldn't believe it was him. Little Pie was thrilled as well, but not as impressed. The Elmo camera is hit too and so far the songs aren't driving us too crazy. The girls loved playing with their great grandparents, uncle and grandparents. They love to give 'Uncle' hugs!!
Both girls looked ADORABLE in their Easter dresses. I couldn't believe it was warm enough to wear them comfortably. They even took off their cardigans later in the day! Of course it was impossible to get a good picture of the two of them in the dresses. Little Pie is a stinker when it comes to getting her picture taken. She just wants to come straight at the camera. I have a ton of close up pictures of her face! We are going to have to wear the dresses again and try another photo shoot.
Basketball!
Well, the girls got their first basketball hoop this weekend, but I think their dad played with it more than they did! Oh well...Little Pie loved to watch daddy shoot a three pointer and then cheer for him (even if it didn't go in)! Both girls love to dunk the ball and Little Bird tries to pass it to everyone. Maybe she'll be the point guard and Little Pie will be the shooter.
What a terrific weekend to be outside and get stuff ready for spring/summer! We tried to get the garage more organized so that we had an easier time getting at all the toys. Yikes...toddler toys sure take up a lot of space! Both girls did a very good job being patient while we tried to organize, but pretty soon both wanted to get in the wagon and head to the park. Thank goodness for the park! Looks like this week will be nice too and we will be visiting the park several more times!

growing up!
We decided to get rid of the high chairs. They were very annoying...taking up a lot of space, frustrating to keep clean(!), and hard to keep the girls away from (both would fight over who would get to push which one around the kitchen). It was sort of a relief to get them out of here but at the same time it seems like we just put them up! Instead of the high chairs, we're using their portable booster chairs hooked onto our counter stools.
I don't want the girls to grow up too fast, but I'm really glad that they are getting to be more independent eaters. Little Bird is very good at eating with a fork or spoon. She can eat all of her mac and cheese with her fork (she just stabs away at it!). She also eats a whole bowl of apple sauce with her spoon without spilling any of it. It's so nice that they don't care about tipping plates and bowls over (well, they still might, but they don't do it as often). Little Pie isn't as patient when it comes to eating with utensils. She needs a little more guidance and when she gets frustrated she just reverts back to eating with her hands. She also knows that she is faster with her hands and Little Pie likes to eat fast!! It's so fun to have them eat like big girls!!
